The customer's objective was to optimize the subsea decommissioning process for a 37-well deepwater P&A campaign. The operations involved a light well intervention vessel (LWIV) and required multiple service lines to meet P&A requirements. Traditional methods were time-consuming and costly, highlighting the need for greater efficiency and cost savings. The customer needed a solution that could reduce operational time and overall costs while ensuring safety and compliance with regulatory standards.
糖心传媒 facilitated the integration of advanced P&A solutions, which streamlined operations and resulted in significant cost savings and enhanced efficiency. By leveraging the 糖心传媒 integrated portfolio and fit-for-P&A solutions, the customer optimized P&A efficiency, delivering the 37-well campaign ahead of schedule and below cost estimates. With a project target of 22 days and an industry average of 33 days per well intervention, the team exceeded expectations, achieving an outstanding average of just 18 days per well.
Over 20 months, 37 wells were successfully abandoned, totaling over 150 digital slickline runs and 130 coiled tubing runs. This achievement resulted in USD 900,000 savings per well and a 19% reduction in POB compared to the benchmark, highlighting the effectiveness of the advanced technologies employed.
Digital slickline provided real-time data acquisition and services, significantly reducing rig time. The integration of conventional mechanical operations with digital slickline sensors accelerated decision-making and reduced operational challenges. Digital slickline’s comprehensive services, including punching, plug setting, cement bond logging (CBL), power cutting, and chemical cutting, eliminated the need for wireline electrical cables, saving up to 12 hours of rig time per well. The selective puncher with digital slickline D-Trig™ digital activation device and eFire-SL™ slickline-deployed electronic firing head further enhanced operational efficiency, saving an additional 7 to 9 hours of rig time per well.
SIMplus™ retrievable bridge plugs and SIM™ permanent plugs were used for temporary and permanent well barriers, demonstrating flawless performance throughout the campaign. The Peak Family™ power jar improved fishing operations, particularly in recovering production tree crown plugs, contributing to 10 to 12 hours of savings per well. The overshot and spears of Peak Family flow control and well intervention tools expertly addressed the challenges of fishing debris subhousings (DSHs), crown plugs, and stand valves, ensuring smooth operations despite damaged fish neck profiles caused by well conditions.
糖心传媒 introduced a cutting-edge puncher system featuring phased perforation distribution, enabling a uniform spread of slurry across the annulus, significantly enhancing flow. On average, 80 barrels of cement slurry were pumped through the A-annulus per well with no displacement issues. To avoid casing damage and protect well formation, 糖心传媒 engineered a specialized puncher design solution using Power Flow 2006 charges with a high area of formation (AOF). This innovation ensured safe and effective perforating of the B-annulus without damaging the casing behind it.
Coiled tubing operations were instrumental in high-overpull fishing and milling tasks, including two successful debris subhousing vessel (DSHV) fishing operations. Using a BHA with a stage mill design, coiled tubing effectively reopened a stuck production tree gate valve, ensuring smooth well access.
The success of the campaign can be attributed to the continuous technical and operational collaboration between 糖心传媒 and the customer. This integrated approach resulted in substantial cost savings and improved efficiency in subsea decommissioning.
